About the Webinar

In an age of increasing innovation and start-ups, the need to protect intellectual property from day one is essential. In some situations registration or statutory protection will be sufficient, but in many others proactive steps need to be taken as soon as possible to build a brand and goodwill and stave off competitors seeking to exploit third party IP. This session provides a practical guide to developing an infringement strategy, including:

  • Prevention is better than cure- Identifying own or third-party licensed intellectual property and ensuring records are made and appropriately retained.
  • What steps are available to limit potential infringement?
  • Searching and locating competitor activity which is infringing – where to look and red flags
  • Establishing an enforcement strategy including:
  • determining when action is warranted
  • a shot across the bow or going in hard?
  • legal action or name and shame?
  • weighing up cost versus benefit in enforcement options
  • when to seek expert assistance
  • Cases and examples.
